Classroom management is essential for creating a positive and productive learning environment. Through the consistent implementation of rules and procedures, teachers are able to minimize disruption and direct student learning. The purpose of classroom management is to create a structured learning environment that allows students the freedom to learn and discover.
At the beginning of the semester, I had my students create their own cellphone policy. The idea was to give them a voice in the classroom and to take ownership over their learning.
(Right) Every week I wrote the expectations on the chalk board. The board was structured with the time and type of activities so that students would know what to expect every day as they walked in.
(Left) A poster I created in order to remind students of the procedures for answering questions and sharing information.
